As the month continues I feel that it is getting easier and easier to implement these challenges into my everyday life. I have even started trying to get all of my roommates to participate with me! Some are easier to convenience than others but I know they all know the benefits surrounding the elimination of single use plastic in our world. I hope to finish out this month strong and carry it into my future as well.

I drink coffee every day, and sometimes when I am running late I have to get my coffee from a coffee shop. I realized that since this month I am already trying to change my behavior by not using any plastic bags, I might as well try to change another behavior to try to help the planet even more. Since I get coffee from different shops I decided to stop using their to-go cups and start bringing in my own travel mug. This is another small step but it will help with the waste that I contribute to the landfills. This might be a challenge for me because if I haven't had my coffee yet that morning I am very forgetful, so remembering my mug will definitely be a challenge.

Although, I did not accept any disposable bag my roommates, who purchased something for me, did. Technically I didn't accept any bags but because I forgot to tell my roommates not to get one for me I felt like I still failed to not accept any. Next time I will try to remember to tell my roommates to skip the bag for me and maybe even for themselves!

    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

My very first time doing this challenge for the month I found myself in this situation. For me, I decided that since I had purchased multiple things I couldn't carry all the things out in my hands so, I opted to buy a new reusable bag. Although, this isn't the best option because I am not limiting my consumption and I did not necessarily need another reusable bag. Since this was the first time I decided as a punishment to buy another reusable bag to keep in my car and to remind me to always bring them in when I go shopping.

I went to Target today and as per the usual, I forgot my reusable bags. Instead of just doing what I always do and just use the plastic bags I decided to purchase a new reusable bag as sort of a punishment to myself for forgetting my own. After I brought in my groceries I immediately brought all of my reusable bags out to my car so that next time I can just run back out to my car instead of buying a new bag.
