So far it's curbed my amount of driving and my shower time has been reduced.  The nudge was good.

So far it's curbed my driving and shower time which is a good change.  The nudge has been helpful.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Advocate for Greener Vehicles
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

Certainly the price and choices are becoming more and more approachable for making the switch.  And gas prices are a big part of that equation.

I was having difficulties seeing all the functionality when using internet explorer - once i switched to Chrome it was all better.  YAY!!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

I plan to focus on buying more of my food in bulk whenever possible and using glass storage jars at home.  Packaging around my purchased goods is something I'm paying way more attention to.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

I hope to make it a default setting on the machines and if someone wants single sided printing they need to select it.  :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

If I don't have a bag for items I often stuff it in my purse whenever possible.  If I wind up needing a bag I ask for paper and then I use the paper bag for my garbage can liner in my kitchen rather than a plastic one.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Drive Less
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

Our Tri-Met Max system makes using mass transit so easy.  I use it whenever I have to go to downtown.  It also eliminates the parking nightmares!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
Can organic farming feed the world? Which side of the argument do you fall on? Why?

YES!!!!  We produce more food than we can eat now.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

I think large commercial farming has moved the reality of our meat consumption out of our view.  Not only are consumers wholly unaware of how the animals are treated - but also the number of them being raised for food or even what the process of butchering them is.  It's a significant disconnect which means consumers see no consequence to their actions.  As a meat eater I do everything I can to ensure there is no meat wasted when I prepare it and I've started making it a significantly smaller portion on my plate as well as eating it only a few time a week.
