Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

How do you sort/reduce/recycle your various numbered  plastics? Crafty options rock too!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

    Jeffrey Lee's avatar
    Jeffrey Lee 4/20/2019 11:56 AM
Saving some of the used water for my garden (potted plants in my case).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Jeffrey Lee's avatar
    Jeffrey Lee 4/20/2019 11:55 AM
Functional rain gardens and increased bioswale systems, restoring floodplains, return of spawning and resident fish to historical tributaries. Many changes needed including infrastructure/development practices and education towards local sustainable outcomes.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Install a Toilet Tank Bank
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Jeffrey Lee's avatar
    Jeffrey Lee 4/20/2019 11:53 AM
Locally: road surface runoff, ditching/diverting water for agriculture, removing trees/shrubs that provide shade, polluting and littering. Globally: overfishing the oceans, exporting/importing water and goods, climate change in general...
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Jeffrey Lee's avatar
    Jeffrey Lee 4/20/2019 11:43 AM
So much of this was junk mail so it was very refreshing but also frustrating how businesses will use my contact information so irresponsibly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Personal Waste Audit
Why is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?

    Jeffrey Lee's avatar
    Jeffrey Lee 4/20/2019 11:42 AM
People don't see where the trash goes and also how it influences nature. When shopping for groceries, opt for bulk or products packaged more sustainably.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety.

Time and convenience, as well as my own confidence in riding the bike in the city...
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Walk Instead
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Do you feel that this fact applies to you? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?

    Jeffrey Lee's avatar
    Jeffrey Lee 4/20/2019 11:39 AM
Very much so unfortunately. I need to get back on the bike, or get a bike to start!
