If not then I'd just run to the car because we always have reusable bags in the back seat (for scenarios such as this).

Kristen's actions
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Transportation
Try Carpooling
I will commute by carpool 4 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 6.44 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 5 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Kristen Manley 4/09/2019 11:11 PMI normally don't purchase anything more than I could carry out with my two hands. If in the event I do make a big purchase and have no reusable bag with me, I would use a cart. If there are no carts available, I would inquire with an associate to see if there are reusable bags available for purchase.
If not then I'd just run to the car because we always have reusable bags in the back seat (for scenarios such as this). -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Kristen Manley 4/04/2019 7:54 PMBefore the Eco Challenge, I would use plastic straws daily. From teas, to coffee, to smoothies, you name it. I substituted using plastic straws by investing in reusable metal straws which will minimize the amount of straws ending up in the ocean and harming our environment.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Kristen Manley 4/04/2019 7:49 PMGoing paperless means less trees are being cut down and that's always a great thing. It also minimizes the amount of waste being sent to the landfill if it's not being recycled.
Going paperless has ultimately been an awesome decision because I don't have to take time to look through/not look through bills/subscriptions that would eventually end up in the trash at the end of the day. 10/10 would recommend to a friend -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Try CarpoolingWhat are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety.
Kristen Manley 4/04/2019 7:41 PMCarpooling helps minimize the amount of pollution in the air. It helps keeps the air, water, and land cleaner.
