Julia's actions
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 2 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 0.0 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Food
Plant an Herb Garden
I will plant an herb garden in my home, workplace, or dorm room.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Julia Riley 4/23/2019 6:08 AMI regularly use straws, vegetable, and plastic bags. I could substitute the straws for metal straws or reusable straws. I could bring my own bags when I shop. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Julia Riley 4/23/2019 6:04 AMI generate electricity with solar panels on my house. It leaves a greener impact on the Earth
