Jessica's actions
Transportation
Walk Instead
I will walk 4 mile(s) each day instead of driving and avoid sending up to 8.04 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Do you feel that this fact applies to you? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Jessica Blyth 4/02/2019 8:33 AMI live within 2 miles of the school and me and my neighbor walk home but we carpooled to school this morning so, in a way this does apply to me. Instead of driving to school in the mornings we can try walking if its not cold or raining.
