Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Energy
Heat and Cool Naturally
I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.
Transportation
Conduct Virtual Meetings
I will not travel for meetings and will instead conduct them virtually.
Transportation
Work from Home
I will work from home 5 day(s) to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Food
Zero-Waste Cooking
I will cook 2 meal(s) with zero-waste each day
Water
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water per faucet every day.
Waste
Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.
Food

I will plant an herb garden in my home, workplace, or dorm room.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

J. Scott Collard 4/28/2019 8:25 AMMy wife and I planted 6 ornamental trees yesterday. Flowering plum, beautiful pink blossoms in the Spring, home to birds, and good for the environment. -

J. Scott Collard 4/22/2019 6:50 PMHere's how I reuse wood for my grilling. Wouldn't want anything to go to waste. Yard clean-up turned to cooking fuel. Last years briquets of alder, wild cherry, maple & willow with cedar kindling on the top layer of images. Easter Lamb on the bottom layer of images. SORRY, I love being a carnivore if the food is properly prepared. -
J. Scott Collard 4/21/2019 9:35 AMIt's Spring and throughout our area homeowners are out on their lawn tractors & doing "blow-and-go" jobs. My wife lets her 2 horses out of their pasture and on the rest of property for about an hour a day while we and the dogs go in the house for lunch. The "lawn" hasn't had to be mown yet this year, and it's not quite even, but lawn mowers put a lot of pollution. The horses are great little lawn mowers.
