Reflection QuestionWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Leticia Cortez 4/23/2019 8:02 AMI'm guilty of using vegetable bags! :( some fruits and veggies may not need a bag but I guess I could look into buying smaller reusable bags for these items (such as broccoli, cauliflower, grapes etc) -
Reflection QuestionWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Leticia Cortez 4/23/2019 7:53 AMI usually always have a large purse so I just put my items in my purse and/or carry my items out.. I can proudly say that I have always been really good about using reusable bags. I try my hardest to not use plastic or paper bags from the stores. I will also buy reusable bags if I need to. -
Reflection QuestionTransportation Drive LessHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Leticia Cortez 4/23/2019 7:51 AMI honestly havent had many options of transportation throughout my life. I grew up in a small town where there was no public transportation. Luckily I lived near the school so I could walk to school but because our town is small we had to cross the bridge to other towns for things and cars are the only options. You cant use a bike to cross the bridge. Because I have always had a car, I haven't considered other forms of transportation now that I live in the Portland area because I know that it will mean for longer commuting by taking public transportation. I do try to always make sure to carpool whenever there is a possibility. -
Reflection QuestionWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Leticia Cortez 4/23/2019 7:45 AMI don't think its difficult to switch to a reusable coffee cup, it's all about the person and if they are willing to carry around their mug or tumbler. I keep coffee mugs at my desk but my goal is to use a reusable cup when I go out for coffee. I know being in the drive through it might be challenging but taking a few extra minutes to inside to hand the barista my cup is important. -
Leticia Cortez 4/17/2019 8:18 AMWhen I forget to bring my reusable shopping bags to a store, I make sure to carry my items out or use my purse so that I don't use a plastic bag -
Leticia Cortez 4/12/2019 7:10 AMI purchased extra reusable bags so I can keep them in my car and some at home so that I am never without them. -
