These past few weeks as I would get my coffee I gave the bistros my reusable cup. From now on I am going to continue this even when the challenge is over because it takes little work with big pay off.

Taking 5 minute showers has been getting easier and easier. Now I enjoy the short time because it conserving so much water compared to my old 15-20 minute showers.

Going to the Co-op today was really interesting and something I found interesting was their Beans for Bags program. I think more stores should implant this in their systems to help the environment and others in need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I feel goof when I know I am doing good for the environment. Although I am just one person I have learned that every action helps and can make a significant difference.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

When I am in a situation like this my first instinct is to grab a disposable bag but to establish a successful habit I could start carrying a reusable bag with me whenever I go to the store.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Carry my Trash
What one thing could you do right away to reduce your waste?

To reduce my waste I could purchase less processed food and buy more produce that way I will be eating what I buy rather than throwing away packaging.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Drive Less
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

I grew up in a torn that was about 25 miles from the city and my school so we were always forced to drive cars since we had listed bus stops. That behavior to always use a car is still with me, but now that I live in La Crosse and there are many more bus stops I will make the effort to drive less and use public transportation or ride my bike to nearby areas.

    Energy Switch to Cold Water
What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

In La Crosse energy is generated by power plants, wind, and solar, but we also have a company called Xcel that is a waste-to-energy plant. Power plants and burning waste can emit toxins into the air that effect the environment but wind and solar energy is a healthier option that is low cost
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

I think this is a good statement because if we pay our farmers then they can produce healthy products to us so that we have healthier options to eat. This way if were eating healthier than we might not have to see the doctor as often.
