Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Transportation
Car Share
I will sign up for a car-sharing service, or organize car sharing with my neighbors, to cut down on the number of vehicles on the road.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Transportation
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.
Transportation

Transportation
Try Carpooling
I will commute by carpool 15 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 8.47 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Water
Collect Rain Water

Keilani Marie Mesa 4/15/2019 7:06 PMWe have a project at school where we have to generate a handbook in a foreign country and we selected to do one about trash collection. I am excited and interested to see how the possible impact of implementing something could affect the country we select. -
Keilani Marie Mesa 4/15/2019 7:02 PMJulene is really killing this challenge. So happy our team is trying to be good at this. -
Keilani Marie Mesa 4/15/2019 7:01 PMI had to print a lot of contracts a week ago and it really made me feel extremely horrible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhy is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?
Keilani Marie Mesa 4/15/2019 7:00 PMAs consumers we often overlook the impact we have because we are so used to a convenience driven environment. The movement to become more conscious is definitely increasing and I believe that once business and consumers are on the same page consumption and choices will have a better outcome. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? Do you know how your compost will be used and the benefits it has on the environment?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
Keilani Marie Mesa 4/15/2019 6:58 PMConvenience is mostly the barrier in making this a new habit but I personally try my best to use my flask, mason jars, or personal cups instead of paper/Styrofoam cups etc.
