Great Challenge! Some were easy (already doing) but some I was more motivated to take extra steps to complete.  Go Blazers!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Buy From a Farmers Market
What is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?

Planted my first garden at home this year!  Trying to use home grown veggies to cut down trips to the store, eat healthy (and it's obviously adorable!)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

2 sided printing should be required as default.  But even more important, who prints things these days? :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

Talk about it!  At a friend dinner last week we discussed how easy it is to sign up for clean energy through your power company.  There was a lot of misconceptions about what this meant or how much it costs - by just chatting about it and explaining the simple steps, a few more friends signed up.

That is awesome Megan! You are right, it is easy to switch and the more of us that do the more powerful the impact!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

To reduce water consumption, we frequently take small steps around the house: reusing towels, being smart about not continuously running water (like when brushing teeth or washing dishes, etc) and not watering the lawn, "smart" watering of our veggie garden at cooler times of day during the summer.  Small steps, but help our whole family think about the little things we do that add up!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

Auto payment combined with paperless billing!  It helps reduce waste AND the stress of paying bills.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

We have been taught from an early age that a real meal includes meat as the main dish.  Time to emphasize early that fruits and veggies are delicious, easy to make and great for your health.  I've been veggie for 20+years and still get teased by folks around me.  Time for self reflection!  :)

Turn off monitor and desk lights too!  Also, installed a simple timer on the lighting at my home so that outside lights automatically turn off during daylight hours.  Easy to do and keeps the lights off when not needed.
