I love saving the earth! Now if only there was an option to log all the times I have used the composting toilet today...

    Waste Recycle Everything I Can
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

Spoke to my coworker about our local recycling company we work with, ECR, what they take and how the market has changed. Also reread the WW article on recycling and changes in Oregon, what's accepted and what's not. I think ultimately recycling overseas (and even locally) is a very carbon/energy-intensive activity, that we're running up against those costs, and we need to move away from single-use materials in the first place!

    Transportation Go by Bike
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

I bike most of the time, sometimes walk, occasionally take the bus, and rarely drive to work. It's always interesting to me how different each mode of transport is and feels. Of all the modes, biking and walking are probably the most pleasant and allow me to take in the environment around me.

    Waste Carry my Trash
What one thing could you do right away to reduce your waste?

Whenever eating out, avoid ordering too much food so I can skip to-go containers entirely. If the venue doesn't compost, take whatever's compostable (including inedible food waste such as lime peels or shells, napkins, etc.) home with me to compost.
