Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

The most wasteful thing in my life would be product packaging and wrappers. I could look for products with more ecofriendly and sustainable packaging, recycling any packaging that I can, and turning more to homemade things instead of manufactured/processed goods.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency?

I can encourage others to do the same, and consider the other wasteful things I find here at home and in the things I do. I can reflect on my life just like I reflect on the actions taken here.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I don't use disposable cups. Firstly, because I don't like coffee, but also because I don't go out and buy hot drinks like that. I make tea at home in ceramic or glass mugs. I recently got some from my college ^_^
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

Reduce: I can limit the amount of materials used and packaging thrown away
Refuse: I can refuse unnecessary single-use products like straws, utensils, bags etc.and instead using reusable ones
Repair: I can see if i can fix things that are broken instead of trashing them and getting new ones
Repurpose: I can see if any packaging materials or old/unused things can be used for something else, like water jugs as garden scoops/trowels and as watering cans

This thought excites me and makes me optimistic.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

I already have. I love the water bottle I have now and the thought of carcinogenic chemicals leeching into the water in disposable bottles keeps me from drinking from them.

    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

I do not wash my car or take it to a car wash. I let the rain do my car washing duties :)

I need to learn more efficient dishwashing. My current method and speed takes a lot of running water.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I will either carry my things if it's a small load or fit as many things as I can into as few disposable bags as possible. I hope to get more compact reusable bags that are more convenient to store and carry.

What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

Money that this saves my parents will help pay for my education and college.

There's a variety of things you could do, such as using energy efficient light bulbs, letting in as much natural light as you can for as long as you can without using artificial lights, replacing windows and doors with energy efficient ones, and using insulating curtains to keep in the heat or the cold so you will have to work less to regulate the room temperature.
