REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Blair Neelands 4/15/2019 4:30 PMIt makes me feel good when I opt-in to paperless, but the next step for me is definitely to determine how best to turn away the unwanted junk mail that always goes immediately into the recycle bin. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Blair Neelands 4/15/2019 4:28 PMI try to stick to a vegan diet, but I do occasionally have salmon or tilapia. I suppose I should pay attention to where it is sourced when I do purchase salmon and tilapia because they could either be on the "best choice" or "avoid" list. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersFive minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?
Blair Neelands 4/15/2019 4:03 PMI've seen people suggest placing a bucket in the shower for the first 30 seconds (or longer if you live in a frigid climate) while you wait for the water to warm up. Then you can use this water for plants and such around the house. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Blair Neelands 4/15/2019 4:01 PMThis doesn't surprise me at all. It's so easy to forget certain food is in the fridge or to be too tired to cook which results in ordering or picking up a quick meal. In the meantime, the groceries you bought go bad and you're forced to throw them out.
I'd use that money and go on vacation!
